Vglide 45 bank Turnbacks are also used on Double Flyovers over a spot on ground, on Box Canyon Turns, and Circling Approaches overhead the airport and turnback to land on opposite runway. Many accidents from pilots that didnt know turnbacks and did them wrong. Do the lever Double Flyovers Vglide speed Turnbacks over a highway before the 3 others. Last do the EFATO Turnbacks, specially with partial power, which is the most common. I learned them in year 2000.

Jason, you asked the question “what two things affect stall speed?” You gave the answer as “weight and CG”. I don’t disagree, but when you initially asked the question, I first thought “bank angle.” Can you tell me why that answer would be wrong? Stall speed does increase in a turn, I think because of the decrease in the vertical component of lift. Indeed, someone mentioned “load factor” as an answer, and if you think about it, it makes sense; load factor really comes down to weight and bank angle/turn radius. So can we say there are 3 things that increase stall speed? Weight, CG, and bank angle? Thanks in advance.

I love this! Wish somebody would have told me this when I was a private. I fly the 737 and it may look like a drastic flare but it is not we fly the AC to 100 feet, pull the power and due exactly what you said. It is very flat and just roll it on. I love this video!

Worst I’ve ever experienced was in Florida! I got 3 full reroutes before I even made it to the runway! They were trying to keep me out of some areas of mod precipitation so I didn’t mind too much. Funny thing is the 3rd and final route was pretty much exactly what I had filed.

It’s sad how flying is so expensive. It cost me 5K to get my RPL back in 2007. Back then it was $180 per hour to fly with an instructor. Now it’s $335 an hour. It now cost $10K to learn to fly. Flying is easy, it’s like driving a car. Most people could fly but unfortunately only wealthy people can fly which isn’t fair because most poor people would be good pilots if they were given a chance. I am a good pilot but I can’t afford to fly. The world favours the rich and kills the poor. I might teach the poor how to fly for free, so then they only need pass the test ?

I am now more confused than before. If I am to avoid a slip with flaps down, does that mean that if I feel that I need to lose a lot of altitude and not gain speed, that I should raise my flaps, then slip? Or that I just don't have the option of a slip?

You should climb at the Vy, not cruise climb. You are supposed to turn headwind, not tailwind. 500 is marginal but most times i had landed opposite on c172 for practice with no power. Anyway, most engine fails are partial power and if not engine surging we practiced turnbacks from 400 agl. Do it right, not wrong.

Why in singe engine airplanes (in multi engine too) don't use stopwatch for achieve V1 start at release breaks, to ensure expected airplane performance? In single engine V1 & time: would be set as Vr - 5kts or less if runway is short, then V1 would be point for safely reject takeoff. (example, someone become sick during takeoff) there were accidents because engine did not had proper performance. and pilot realized that too late for reject takeoff. And also in muli engine was accident because pilots set wrong takeoff power and runway ended before Vr. preflight calculations was ok. I assume calculation will be complex, but with smartphones and tablets, simple app with profile for your airplane would do everything. Just put current conditions like temperature, pressure, dewpoint, runway length&slope, weight&balance, runway surface, and program would calculate V1 Vr, time, distance for takeoff, accelerate stop, etc.

Thank you for the explanation and lesson for slip to land. There is something I don't understand. Why are you first putting right pedal (nose in the wind at 1:48) before doing the opposite maneuver for slip demonstration (i.e. left pedal + right aileron) before landing?

Flying today from KPBI to KPIE. Checked NOTAMS before flight, and 18/36 at PIE was closed. The crossing runway would have put me in a 14 knot crosswind, which was outside my comfort zone. Because of this video alone, I had the confidence to divert to KTPA, and the folks on radio could not have been more amazing. Landed 19L and dropped my passengers off at Signature, then proceeded back on my route. Had it not been for this video, I would have been nervous, but I had the background knowledge to make me feel confident in my decision! Thank you!

Hey, as a student pilot with over 100 hours logged, I’ve encountered some roadblocks in my training. Despite being soloed, I’m still struggling with maneuvers, particularly crosswind landings. My new instructor, who’s of ATP quality, has a different teaching approach, which has been challenging for me. He even suggested that maybe aviation isn’t for everyone. I’m feeling discouraged and considering quitting. Do you have any advice or encouragement for me? I’d greatly appreciate any ideas or insights you might have!
